In the forest a girl met a kind old woman who gave her a little pot. “Say ‘Cook, little pot!’ and it will cook sweet porridge. Say ‘Stop, little pot!’ and it will stop.”
At home the girl and her mother ate as much as they liked. One day the girl was out, and her mother said, “Cook, little pot!”
It cooked and cooked… but she had forgotten the magic words. Porridge spilled over the table, the floor, and out into the street.
The girl came home and said, “Stop, little pot!” And it stopped. Anyone who wanted to get home had to eat their way through.
